What do I need to bring for a kayak or canoe rental?

For rentals, please bring comfortable clothing, water shoes or sandals, sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, a water bottle, and a waterproof bag for valuables. All necessary equipment, such as the kayak/canoe, paddle, and personal flotation device (PFD), is provided.

Do I need to have prior experience to join a guided tour or lesson?

No prior experience is necessary! Our guided tours and lessons cater to all skill levels, from beginners to advanced paddlers. Our certified instructors will provide all the guidance and training you need.

Are life jackets provided, and do I have to wear them?

Yes, life jackets (PFDs) are provided for all participants and must be worn at all times while on the water to ensure your safety.

Can I bring my own kayak or canoe?

Yes, you are welcome to bring your own kayak or canoe.

What is the cancellation policy?

We require a 72-hour notice for cancellations to receive a full refund. Cancellations made less than 24 hours in advance may not be eligible for a refund.

What if the weather is bad?

Safety is our top priority. In the event of severe weather conditions, we may reschedule or cancel the trip. You will be notified as soon as possible, and we will work with you to reschedule or provide a refund.

Are children allowed on tours and rentals?

Yes, children are welcome! The specific age and weight requirements for children to ensure safety is, 15 years old and 100 pounds for a single person Kayak.

Children must be at least 30 pounds to ride in a tandem kayak with an adult and be able to follow directions.

Can we bring food and drinks on the trip?

Yes, you can bring snacks and non-alcoholic beverages. Please note that alcohol is not permitted in boats, but it is available at the Aurora Athletic Club after the tour.

How long do the tours typically last?

The duration of our tours varies. We offer shorter tours, like the North Aurora paddle is about 30 min to 1 hour, and longer ones, such as the Batavia paddle (1.5 to 3 hours). The times vary based upon paddling speed and river current speeds. Please check the specific tour details for more information.

Do you offer special events?

We can accommodate large groups and special events like corporate outings, family reunions, and birthday parties.  Please contact us for more details and to make arrangements.

Do I need to be a certain age to rent or participate in kayak activities?

Yes. You must be 18 years or older to rent or participate in any kayak activity. Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian at all times.
